The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health centre integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH is also a core service provider within the Toronto region of Child and Youth Community Mental Health Providers.  As such, the Centre has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality evidence-informed care offering a range of services including prevention and early intervention, counselling/therapy, assessment and intensive supports. Services are provided in both in-person and virtual formats. As an employer, the Centre strives to reflect the many diverse cultures and identities represented in the children, youth and families we serve and seeks to provide an inclusive and equitable workplace. We are seeking a research assistant with relevant experience and education to support the Centre’s research endeavors, including data collection, cleaning, and analysis, as well as participant recruitment and staff and community engagement

Key Responsibilities

  • Data collection
  • Data base management
  • Data cleaning and analyses
  • Completing REB applications
  • Interfacing with clients and caregivers
  • Monitoring project timelines and deadlines
  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Locating relevant measures
  • Developing figures and tables

 

Other:

  • Complies with the organization’s vision, policies and procedures
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management
  • Flexibility in work across sites and virtually

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary Degree in relevant field and a minimum of two years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent interviewing skills to deal with sensitive client issues
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills to explain and provide information to clients
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
  • Technologically proficient in Microsoft suite (particularly Excel) and REDCap
  • Deep understanding of research ethics, protocol, and general design
  • Knowledge of statistical software (SPSS, R) is preferred

 

Vaccination Requirements:

As a health care centre, our highest priority is the safety of patients, families and staff.  As a result, we are adopting all prevention measures to ensure the safety of our clients, families and our staff.  Therefore, any offer of employment is conditional upon proof of full vaccination with a Health Canada or World Health Organization (WHO) approved COVID-19 vaccination no later than fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the effective start date. Should there be an exemption of vaccination based on a medical, or human rights reason, proof will need to be provided, in addition to participation in regular COVID-19 testing based on exposure risk as well as participation in vaccine education. All offers of employment are conditional on meeting these minimum requirements, failure to comply will lead to offer of employment being immediately rescinded.
