When grief gets more complicated

knots in a line get - when grief gets more complicated

This webinar will focus on how to support some of the populations of grieving children and youth who are more challenging to serve. This includes those with developmental disabilities such as an autism spectrum disorder. As well as those who have experienced a death through suicide. This training will touch on the concept of “prolonged grief disorder”. It will also highlight ways of identifying when a child may be experiencing signs of trauma.

This training will utilize small and large group discussions and will share clinical examples, practical tools and resources. The aim of this is to enhance participants’ confidence in their ability to provide grief support in clinically challenging situations. The facilitators will also share literary, web, and local community supports that are available to support grieving children and youth.

Please note: While this training will be trauma-informed, the emphasis will be on recognizing, not treating, children and youth who have signs of trauma.

This webinar is part of the Children’s grief and bereavement certificate program. Participants may register for any of the certificate program’s individual webinars as a stand-alone training.
