Overview:

Join Dr. Noah Lazar for an in-depth webinar on CBT for health anxiety—an evidence-based approach to treating persistent fears about illness and health.

Health anxiety is the fear that one is ill, or that one will become ill in the future, despite being in good health. Often, the uncertainty surrounding the future or certain physical symptoms can increase this anxiety. It involves excessive worry about having or developing a serious illness, even when medical reassurance is provided. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, this type of anxiety has become increasingly common.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a gold standard treatment for many anxiety disorders. This training will introduce the core components of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for health anxiety, including how to identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that fuel the cycle of worry. The facilitator will discuss the conceptualization of health anxiety, as well as both cognitive and behavioural strategies to address it.

Learning objectives:

  • Understanding the CBT conceptualization of health anxiety.
  • Developing cognitive strategies to challenge anxious thinking and beliefs.
  • Developing behavioural strategies, such as exposure and response prevention exercises, to manage health anxiety.

Register now to gain practical CBT strategies you can use immediately to help clients break free from the cycle of health anxiety and regain a sense of control.
