Introducing our new Executive Director

From Jeff Mainland, Chair of the Board of Trustees, The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health (GH-CCMH) at SickKids, and Executive VP, The Hospital for Sick Children

Following an extensive executive search, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Shannon Greene as the new Executive Director of The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health (GH-CCMH) at SickKids, effective June 29, 2026.

Shannon is currently the Clinical Director, Client and Participant Services at GH-CCMH. In this role, she has overseen a broad portfolio of clinical services and strategic initiatives focused on improving access to care, strengthening hospital-community pathways, enhancing coordinated service delivery, and supporting organizational transformation.

Shannon is a registered social worker with a Master of Social Work and more than 25 years of experience in mental health and addictions services across community, hospital, and government settings. Her career has spanned frontline practice, organizational leadership, and health system planning, with a focus on advancing service integration, improving access to care, and strengthening outcomes for children, youth, and families. She is known for her collaborative leadership style and her commitment to partnership.

Prior to joining GH-CCMH, Shannon held leadership positions at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and served as a Senior Policy Advisor within the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Mental Health and Addictions Division. These experiences provided her with a deep understanding of clinical operations, health system planning, policy development, funding, and partnership-based approaches to system change.

Shannon is looking forward to working alongside staff, partners, children, youth, and families to build on GH-CCMH’s strong foundation and continue advancing innovative, integrated, and person-centred approaches to care. She is particularly excited about strengthening partnerships across the system, enhancing coordinated pathways to support children and youth with complex needs, and helping shape a more connected experience of care for children, youth, and families.

The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health (GH-CCMH) provides mental health and prevention/early intervention services for children and youth (birth to 18) and their families/caregivers. We are a subsidiary of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and are community-based, one of the 23 mental health agencies in Toronto serving infants, children, youth and their families.
