What to expect at your appointment during COVID-19

SickKids CCMH sites will re-open for our first phase of onsite services in July (July 6 at Jarvis, July 8 at Sheppard).  During COVID-19, all clients and essential visitors designated as needing onsite services will have a pre-arranged appointment with their clinician. We are following Ministry of Health and Toronto Public Health guidelines to ensure your safety.

Your safety is key

Our measures include:

Screening: You will be screened before you enter the building; instructions are posted at the site entrance.

Hand hygiene: Cleaning hands with hand sanitizer will be required upon entry and within meeting rooms.

Masks: Clients and staff will be provided with surgical masks at reception. You and your clinician will remain masked throughout your appointment. You may remove your mask to drink or eat if you:

  • clean your hands before and after
  • remain physically distanced
  • replace the mask when you are done drinking or eating

Physical distancing: We are limiting numbers of staff and clients that will be permitted in our two sites. Treatment rooms are set up so you and your clinician will be two metres apart, and signage throughout the building will help you keep distance safely.

Enhanced cleaning: High-touch surfaces such as railings, doorknobs, and elevator buttons will be cleaned more frequently; designated rooms for clinical meetings will be cleaned and sanitized between appointments.

Other precautions for children under 6: For parents of children under the age of 6, please speak with your clinician regarding onsite services with your child. We are not mandating children under 6 to wear a mask so we will take extra precautions to ensure your safety should you come onsite.

Bring to your appointment

Your water bottle: Our water fountains are closed during COVID-19, but we can fill your bottle for you.

Toys or art supplies (if needed): Any toy brought in should be hard-surfaced, and cleanable with a disinfecting wipe; any supplies you bring in, you will take back home with you.

A mask: We highly recommend wearing a mask on your way to the centre, even though you will be given a mask upon your entry into the building. Here are instructions for non-medical masks and face coverings: sew and no-sew.

Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before your appointment time
