Dr. Suneeta Monga is the Psychiatrist-in-Chief at SickKids and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, where she holds the TD Bank Financial Group Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Suneeta’s clinical and research efforts focus on preschool anxiety disorders, including selective mutism, where she has made important contributions to the recognition, understanding and treatment of these highly prevalent and impacting disorders. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and written books and book chapters in these areas. In addition, she has authored a children’s story and workbook, Taming Sneaky Fears, which supports parents in managing anxiety in their preschoolers using evidence-based strategies.
Suneeta leads the IN-ROADS Initiative, a global research project that she conceptualized to develop a core set of outcomes to be measured across adolescent depression treatment studies. She most recently received funding to lead a similar international effort to develop a core outcome set for pediatric anxiety disorders.
A strong advocate for the integration of mental health into the care of physical health in children and youth, Suneeta co-leads one of the implementation arms for the SickKids Mental Health Strategy, where she focuses on intra-hospital strategy. As a mentor and advocate for aspiring clinicians, she has won several departmental and national awards for her teaching.
