How could he do it? An exploration of adolescent violence via the Netflix series, ‘Adolescence’

We’re excited to announce that registration is now open for this newly developed course exploring adolescent violence and mental health via the Netflix series Adolescence!

Don’t miss out — join Dr. Marshall Korenblum starting October 1, 2025 for this clinical look at adolescent violence. Enhance your approach to addressing adolescent violence, cyber-bullying, family impact, and mental health with evidence-based research and actionable insights.

This newly developed course will follow Jamie, a fictional 13-year-old boy, through the treacherous waters of teenage relationships. It uses the Netflix series Adolescence as a springboard for discussion. Along the way, we will explore issues of cyber-bullying, misogyny, “incel” culture, explosive violence, and the impact of trauma on parents and family. What supports are in place for today’s teenagers? Where have all the adults gone?

Participants will need to watch each assigned episode of Adolescence independently at home prior to the weekly sessions, using their own Netflix subscription.

Over four interactive, live sessions, you’ll engage in reflective exercises, group discussions, and scholarly debriefs. Each session integrates evidence-based research with practical clinical insights. This course helps you list the factors that contribute to teen relational violence and appreciate the impact of cyber-bullying on adolescent development. You’ll also recognize what a “good” mental health assessment does and does not look like. Consider ways to improve safety and security for today’s teens — all while deepening your empathy for parents navigating these challenges.

Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your clinical toolkit and explore the complex realities of adolescent violence and mental health.
