Motivational interviewing (MI): An evidence-informed approach towards change
This training will cover the four-process approach to the spirit of motivational interviewing (MI) including the principles, skills such as open-ended questions, affirmation, reflective listening and summarization, evocation and deepening the awareness of sustain/change talk in session, with emphasis on moving more towards change talk as the session progresses.
This training will include an educational review of key concepts from MI therapeutic approaches and following this, a practical interactive learning experience of these key concepts linking theory to practice will be reviewed. This MI training experience will focus on enhancing the applied skills regarding the four principles of MI, the spirit of MI, basic skills of MI (OARS), and sustain talk vs. change talk.
